Rolex Datejust Oysterquartz Rare blue dial unpolished / Minty 17014 - with papers
The 17014 is no ordinary Datejust. This is the legendary Oysterquartz – Rolex’s short-lived and forward-thinking answer to the quartz crisis of the 1970s and 80s. Introduced in 1977, the Oysterquartz line was the result of nearly a decade of research and development, leading to Rolex’s own in-house quartz caliber: the 5035.
This particular example, reference 17014, pairs that technical legacy with a razor-sharp 36mm case and integrated Oysterquartz bracelet – a nod to the era’s trend toward angular, architectural sports watch design. The fluted white gold bezel adds just the right touch of elegance, while the rare blue sunburst dial brings the whole piece to life with shifting tones in the light.
Condition is excellent, with crisp case edges, tight bracelet, and a clean dial. These watches were only produced in small numbers compared to their automatic siblings, and the blue dial variants are especially sought after by collectors. Finding one in nice unpolished and crisp condition is a bit of a unicorn these days!
A perfect blend of vintage charm, futuristic engineering, and unmistakable Rolex identity.
