A very attractive mid-1960s Rolex Explorer 1016, dating to approximately 1966 based on its serial number.

The watch features the iconic matte black 3-6-9 dial with SWISS - T<25 tritium signature and beautifully aged luminous material. The dial and hands have developed the warm, creamy appearance that gives these early Explorer models so much character.

This example comes with its original punched Rolex warranty certificate from Joyería Grassy S.A., Madrid.

The watch is fitted with a Rolex 7206 riveted Oyster bracelet with 80 end links. The clasp is stamped 3/67, dating the bracelet to the third quarter of 1967.

The case and bracelet show honest signs of use consistent with age. We do not make definitive statements about previous polishing; please judge the condition from the high-resolution photographs.

The movement has been tested and measured approximately +15 seconds/day, 266° amplitude and 0.1 ms beat error.

A particularly appealing early Explorer 1016 with strong period character, desirable riveted bracelet and original punched documentation.
