Five million serial

With original Italian papers**

The Rolex Submariner 5512 is one of the most iconic and collectible vintage Submariners ever produced. Introduced in 1959 and discontinued around 1980, the 5512 represents the transition from the early tool Submariners to the modern era. It was the first Submariner to feature crown guards, it was chronometer certified and it became the basis for the entire Submariner line for the next decades.

Only a small percentage of all four line chronometer 5512 watches have survived in attractive condition. Even fewer still have their original punched papers. This makes every complete 5512 a serious collector piece.

About this watch

This example is a five million serial Submariner 5512 which places its production around 1976. It features the later matte dial with creamy patina, matching hands and a beautifully aged bezel insert. The watch has an honest vintage presence with the right amount of character and originality.

Complete with Italian papers

This watch comes with its original Italian chronometer certificate. Period correct papers with a 5512 are rare and strongly increase the collectability and long term value. The papers show the watch was sold in Italy where many vintage Rolex pieces were originally purchased by collectors and travellers.

Why the 5512 matters

The 5512 carries historical significance in the Rolex product line. Compared to the 5513, the 5512 was always the more exclusive version due to its chronometer certified movement. Fewer were produced and fewer remain in correct condition. It is widely regarded as one of the most important references for any Submariner collection.

Condition

The dial is clean with strong luminous plots that have aged into an attractive warm tone. The insert has a natural vintage fade and the case retains good proportions. The watch runs well and is ready for daily wear or to be added to a serious vintage collection.
